Dr. Louise Murray |
Dr. Louise Murray grew up in nearby Westchester County, NY. She graduated from Duke University in 1988 and from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center, and continued there for her residency program in small animal internal medicine, becoming board-certified as an internal medicine specialist in 1997.
Dr. Murray practiced internal medicine in private referral practice in Maryland and then New York City until 2004, also serving as internship program director. She then joined the ASPCA here in NYC, initially in the role of medical director and internship program director, later as the ASPCA Vice President overseeing the ASPCA Animal Hospital. After a rewarding 12 years with the ASPCA, she decided to rekindle her first love, directly providing medical care to canine and feline patients, and returned to private practice in Westchester and NYC. One of Dr. Murray’s lifelong goals is to share information to improve the lives of dogs and cats; she published a consumer’s guide to veterinary medicine, Vet Confidential, in 2008 and has appeared in many media venues including local and national television, radio and print. She lives in Westchester County and when not at the office can be found gardening, serving as her son’s personal chef and social secretary, or working at the computer with the world’s most affectionate cat draped around her neck. |
